Greenlaning in Northants Mk II |
|
After the apparent success of our first trip to Dodford, Adstone and Moreton Pinkney, I am pulling together a afternoons worth of linked lanes in the North of the County - (around Guilsborough etc etc)
Is anyone interested in this???? Let me know....
I will post a prospective route very soon.....

Always up for a few lanes... especially if you can put up with an old D1 joining you - it was a slightly surreal moment to follow behind Bodsy as we exited a lane and he 'descended' to normal road height...
'tis almost cheating!
As for dates - you pick! We appear to have the 'wrong sort of friends' at the moment as one is getting married tomorrow (clashes with Billing) and another in mid-Oct (clashes with wild camping trip to Wales....) but hope your dates might work!

Here is the first proposed route -
From the Carpark on the Brampton Valley Way at Hanging Houghton
1 - Starting in Hanging Houghton - head out on the lanes into Maidwell
2 - From Maidwell take the lane leading out to Haselbech past Scotland Wood
3 - From Haselbech - take the lane north past Tallyho Covert finishing along the road in Naseby
4 - Head west out of Naseby onto the A5199 and head south to Cold Ashby
5 - Head out of Cold Ashby to Elkington
6 - Head out of Elkington South to Winwick (there are some BIG holes in the track) where there is a byway to the left before you get to Winwick - turn left here
7 - Head up to the road and turn right south back to a byway on the right that take you to Winwick
8 - Head out of Winwick along the road to Yelvertoft
9 - Head south tp Crick and turn onto the A428 towards DIRFT
10 - At DIRFT there is a BOAT that heads SSE coming out on the road near Crick
Thoughts any one???????

Route sounds good to me
Although I seem to recall that last time I checked, the route at DIRFT was subject permanent TRO. I have just checked the end of the lane using google street view and the signage indicates no motors although this may have changed since??
Either way, it will be a good session with or without this lane

I'll check that lane out!!!! Thanks for the heads up!
As a precaution I will look at some other shorter lanes that can be included and can be linked....
Maps to follow
Prospective dates will probably be in August, one of the last 2 weeks? How does that sound - any preferences
