Just done this mod,
I found it easier to take the 2 bolts at the bottom out that hold the sounder in place,
Than fiddle about with the connector,
There is a small retaining clip on the top centre of the connector,
I used a very small flat screwdriver to depress this and it came out no problem.
Then taped over the connector to stop water ingress
I don't know why but I bolted the sounder back into place
As it's no louder than a flea farting I should have binned it

Just to be clear, this does not work on a D4. Sounder has no visible markings (without removing it) so possibly a different unit. On a D4 if you unplug the sounder when the alarm is tripped the lights flash and NOTHING else happens.
On the D4 the sounder is in the same place, inside the same box. It has room around it, and its definitely audible on a busy street...to the thief. In trying this just now I set it off several times and not a twitch from the neighbours. Its gone off on the driveway without it being audible in the front rooms of the house, so its basically useless.
Thank goodness for tracker!

Have to agree, the D4 sounder is in the same place but it is a lot louder, mine went off the other day whilst I was at the far end of the back garden - still heard it though.
A driving instructor pulled up outside, blocked the drive and kept an eye on it until I got there not sure what caused it to go off though.

My D3 alarm was the same. Could barely hear it from inside my house.

Carried out this mod today. works a treat. Also discovered that the N/F door lock was seized, so I freed this off too. Note to all, check your door lock is free just in case!

On MY2012, it can be programmed to use the horn with an IID tool. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added
MY2019 D5 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - sold to a dealer for a crazy price! - So good I bought another!
