No Gary it wouldn't you will never really get it all out even with a flush, which is why some use the double flush method. The only way to get it all out is to take the whole damn thing to bits!
Now why does my having told you that last bit make me feel very uneasy. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

If u jack the back up to lift both wheels off the ground and use axle stands , if u turned the prop would that rotate the torque converter and allow more oil to come out via the gearboxes drain plug plse

Hiya
No offence taken, would always prefer to be told , does it cause damage then or by turning the prop could that cause the front wheels to move as it’s a 4x4 plse
Many thks

So I did a jag. I just drained it the normal way.
I put the drain sump plug back in.
Undid one cooler line at the front to let air in.
Left it a week
And to my surprise got nearly another 2 litres out the sump.

Oh wow, will try that , thks Pete as that indeed is very worthwhile
Have got 10 x litres of the AG55 , new filler and drain plugs
The black specs in the pics are from Dinitrol, don’t think the level plug has been undone in a while , plus going to leave the gearbox filter alone
Thks again

Agreed. They can take quite a surprising bit of shifting to move them. Use a decent length breaker bar (i.e. not a ratchet - ask me how I know... )
As ever, always good practice to check you can undo the filler plug on any assembly like this before removing the drain plug.PAGODA

What’s that u say , don’t drain the oil before ensuring level plug comes out , who would do such a thing , plse don’t ask me how I know , the shame some years back

Hello,
First of all thanks to all contributors of this topic which improve a lot my knowledge of this gearbox!
I am going to change (for the first time) the oil and filter on my 6HP26 (D4 2011 3.0TDV6) and I have a question.
I know that I have to replace the original plastic sump by a new one in two parts (filter separated) but I have seen that the new sump in the conversion kit is without drain plug...
(https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-SPORT-2005-2013-6HP26-ZF-AUTOMATIC-GEARBOX-SUMP-FILTER-KIT-DA2142G/254043045386?epid=27027467511&hash=item3b26253e0a:g:abYAAOSwsPNcJjRz)
=> do you know if this kit/sump is available somewhere with a drain plug (to ease following drain)?
Thanks!JM

It is ok !
I found that 2 metal pan models exist: one without drain plug ref : DA2142.AM and one with a drain plug ref: DA2142.G ...
I can order !

I used the original OP methods. I only got 4 litres out. I replaced this and noticed some improvement. I am worried of the small amount though, have owned this car for less than two months. Has been neglected so nothing would surprise me. Next steps? I’m mostly worried it doesn’t have enough oil in it, but can’t see a way of finding this out without a full strip down?
