Agree...
The likelihood is that the D5 will cost an arm & three legs....if it doesn't I will be very & pleasantly surprised...
We all have to wait & see
Wait till it appears...whenever it does
See what is made & what is being offered.....
It has to fill big boots....the D3/4 replacement has to be as good as or better in a lot if respects as the D3/4 is a combination of superlatives......performance, load lugging, passenger capacity, off road capability, towing capability......OK some will say "I never do or need that" OK others do...it means different things to a lot of people.
I just hope it's realistically priced, as capable, not over blinged, well specified (either the HSE is with everything) or a list of options..
it has to be better as regards fuel consumption.....but with the joint technology in the J/LR group I'm sure it will be...thank goodness J/LR didn't buy engines in especially from BM effin W. BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

What's the likelihood of a commercial being available? Or are these owners going to have to wait until the next Defender? 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Given the mess that's now happening with the Discovery Sport, I'd buy a Discovery 4 and then wait a few years until they sort out the teething problems. In fact, that's what we've just done; cancelled our order for a Sport and bought an ex-demo Discovery 4. Renny Thomson

iT'S THE TWELFTH HOUR FOR DISCOVERY CURRENT SHAPE. Just hinting that it's now or never for current shape. AND, good luck getting a custom order slot.

Bearing in mind the price for a decent spec new one the RRS is doing fabulously well.
Have to admit it is my favourite in the range but too expensive and not quite practical enough for us though. MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

HSE Winter wheels

I wonder how 3,254 Freelanders were sold in 2015 when, in the UK at least, all new Freelander's had to be pre-registered by November 2014.
It's interesting to see that, comparing LR's with LR's and RR's with RR's, the more impractical and heavily stylised the product is, the better it sells. I like to think of the D3/4 as the true modern descendent of the Defender, but there would appear to be a very strong business case to sever that link and build something that will appeal much more strongly to the Hair & Beauty Technician market; if LR can get it right again, then BMW and Audi need to be very concerned
PS: If the DS "is holding its own", why is it outsold nearly 2:1 by its, conceptually and mechanically very close, Evoque idiot cousin? 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4

I meant holding it's own compared to previous FL2 sales ...not as a comparison to the Ewok 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I see.
Though it's probably not a fair comparison, as all the UK FL2's were pre registered in the previous year and were sold as delivery mileage cars and therefore, excluded from the list. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4

How does it compare to its rivals though? X3, Q5?
Are they rivals? Does it have any direct competition? 2014 D4 XS

Not sure I understand what you mean ...are you saying all Evoques were second hand when sold ? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Yes. Back in either November, or December, 2014 there wasn't a single new FL2 left to register. I know, I tried to find one at the time! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
