Serious question do you take the time to write these out everytime there is a discussion on the D5 or rather relay the same points?
OR
Do you copy and paste from your Novel "I dont like the D5, and will not be buying one but going to tell everyone based on not owning one" by BLFarrar

Where as the motoring journalists on a manufacturers junket who also don't own one, but have probably spent about as much time in one as BLF has, but i doubt any have done any distance in the rear seats, have a more valid point?

At the end of the day its a discussion forum where views are shared and opinions are expressed. Personally I was massively disappointed in the D5 and my kids didn't like the rear seats so I didn't buy one, but you like it and I'm sure your rear passengers are happy. Its horses for courses but the rear is still ugly Laughing

Indeed, each to their own and we can of course choose to ignore posts Thumbs Up

I know that the D1 & D2 had/has a big fan base, inc. many here. It didn't suit me, so I didn't buy one. The D3 almost perfectly suited me so I bought one, the D4 slightly less so, but it did have some significant improvements.

Sadly, the D5 just doesn't suit my current needs as well as the D4.

I think it has reached the stage of ignoring this sub forum.

I can understand the comments about the second row of seats and the rear end, but very little new is added here now.

The Disc05 forum is flourishing with lots of interesting threads involving actual ownership.

I join forums to learn from others experiences and to share where I can.

That does not really happen here now. IMHO of course. Thumbs Up

Forever - many thanks for he interesting reply..
Answers to serious question:
Yes I take the time (minutes) to enter text one letter at a time.....most people do this..
If using the iPad....two finger typing
If using desktop iMac....touch type....multi fingers.
Second Question
It's rare I cut & paste...I don't need to as I can structure text from memory.

This thread is about the rear seats.....various opinions.
For most it's a deal breaker...it is for me.

Fundamentally I write one here what I want or need.....as many others do.
The Disco5 thread goes back a long way starting at the eventual Discovery replacement not a 5 at that stage but a thought, then some concept pictures leaked, prototypes seen etc. Right up to the launch no one really knew about split tailgate & a few more things....speculation & guesswork.
The eventual vehicle as said previously a big disappointment to me & others......how about you?
Unless it's a rule written somewhere I will read the posts I want or need to & reply if I think I can add to further the discussion, all within the bounds of site posting rules.
Now it's to be seen & tried the discussion continues.
Those with a D5 or ordering one have already made thier minds up based on whatever criterion they deem relevant ...as I have.
Seat comfort, passenger accommodation is a basic.
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I suggest (no, insist) that if you are out to bash the D5 you stay off the D5 section here. I've asked for constructive, measured input and being ignored by some.

Ok. I'd like to take part in this discussion too Very Happy

D5 rear seats, for a 65/70.000 euros car, are very unconfortable. It's a fact. I don't think this will be a deal breaker for many though...the design, probably. Whistle
I know that the D5 has been released a few weeks ago but i still haven't seen one single D5 on the road here in France yet. I spoke to a friend who works for a LR dealer. He said that D5 sales is, for the moment, a fiasco! Very few people are enquiring about it let alone placing orders. There must be a reason! On the other hand the RR Velar is attracting huge interest.

They're flying out the showrooms here. All my dealers demos have owners, the problem here is LR can't get them delivered quick enough.

The rear seats, yes are lower but I haven't found them to be any more uncomfortable than the D4, there isn't a great amount of thigh support on them either. Definitely more legroom in the D5, the hold-all I use for work couldn't fit in the footwell between the rear of the drivers seat and 2nd row, it does in the D5.

I've had adults in the back, granted not on long journeys, but no complaints about the rear seating, only that it feels lower.

Interestingly, when RRS2 was released there was some grumbling on RRSport about the look of the rear (sound familiar) and that the boot was smaller (again). Some grumbled that the rear seats don't fold totally flat which reduced praticality. But the grumbling didn't last too long. There is a separate RRS2 forum but there is also a section for the RRS2 on RRSport. No one posting on there gets a tirade of abuse about the perceived failings of the new model. Most RRS owners would probably agree that the RRS2 is a great vehicle - a few cosmetic issues aside.

Perhaps there's a less hardcore, traditionalist, attitude to the cars over there. Certainly, they are generally treated as 4WD cars rather than offroading 4x4s which may have something to do with it.

Yes I remember it! I owned a 2006 RRS1 and then a run out 2013 Black Edition.

I have switched to a D5, but still like the RRS2. Thumbs Up

The RRS was a better executed job.

I have seen a D5 in the flesh and it was far better than in photos where the awkward dimensions seem to look worse. My wife saw her first one in the flesh today and said she thought the rear boot was awful but liked the rest.

My car goes in for service in May if I still have it then and I will take the time to have a sensible look at the D5 and make my own opinion up then.

Don't forget, the gripes we read here are real ones - it isn't people attacking each other.

If you're a buyer of the new one you have made your own assessment and you like what you see, why bother even listening to those that are Censored off with the fact the D5 doesn't work for them? It's not your problem Thumbs Up

Nr.2 daughter jumped in the back of the D5 for the first time last night, first thing to come out her mouth was "these seat are nowhere near as good as your old car", no prompting or prior discussion. I tried them myself just to see if they were as bad as the pre-production car that I had sat in and yes they lack support, glad i'll not be going any distance on them !!
