I am a member of Which? ...they have never had a good word to say about any aspect of LRs even in areas where you know they excel ....most of the reliability info is also ancient Thumbs Up

980 responses from this years survey as far as I can see.....compared to 540 from Lexus which came top (mainly as usual)... of course Lexus don't have the same 'hard' off road ability (but probably enough for most of us!)..... even so... it does not seem to be that ability that gives LR such a low reliability rating..... Thumbs Up

My point is it's invariably not the current range they refer to .....you could write in about the reliability of an FL1 and they will rate it against the brand today

The best LRs I owned was the Fl2. These new generation of LRs are terrible in terms of quality and reliability. My Velar alone has been in the dealers (not including service) more than my previous LRs put together. Even for a die hard fan like me, it would make me think twice about buying another.

The apparent inability, or maybe lack of desire, of the dealerships to fix problems doesn't help. None of us mind the odd issue with our cars - they're not perfect, we know that - but sometimes issues take dealer 2, 3 or more attempts to sort. Sometimes they cause issues when trying to fix something else entirely.

Putting your vehicle in to a dealership, waiting a week for them to do nothing (too busy doing lucrative oil changes), having to chase them constantly with no success (no one returns call etc) makes any reliability issue seem much bigger.

A further problem is the pace of dealership\service expansion has not kept up with the model range and increased sales....they seem to be lagging well behind.

Agree with that one DG. Since GS merged their Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships, getting a workshop appointment or a phone call returned is like waiting for a ship at an airport!

It is a twin-turbo 306 horsepower, 700Nm torque.

As soon as the 4.4d V8 engine is no longer available in the RRS I'll be switching to a Disco 5 with this engine as I am back to the old choice I had of the 3.0 D4 Vs the original RRS with the same engine and the Disco' just offered 'more for the same' on our company car scheme.

No, that's 339 horsepower and 740Nm torque.

The on-paper figures suggest they are pretty close on acceleration, etc. but the V6 more fuel frugal but in real world usage I found them pretty close on fuel in my hands but there is less a 'need' for the V8 anymore Big Cry

I'm a bit of a dinosaur and after having four Jag' XKR's I had to 'wean' myself off the 550bhp engine so had four more V8d RRS's Confused

Little foray to the 380ps F-Pace and now back in the RRS.

My next company car will likely be my last 4.4d RRS I expect so then the choice of 3.0 Velar (380 petrol or 306 diesel) RRS or D5 most likely and from those I'd choose the D5 Thumbs Up

About 6% difference in Nm then. Still very impressive!

I prefer to look at the torque figures for diesel engines, rather than bhp.

I'd still like a 4.4 SDV8 though Thumbs Up

The current/newest iteration of td6 is a really nice engine to drive but, whatever the figures say and no matter how close the outputs, I find the power delivery is very, very different to the SDV8.
 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)
