I have a newish 09 GS and can confirm that there is no AUX port wiring at the back of the radio. There is a 12 pin connector block but only 1 black lead is attached to pin 12 (Audio Ground).
However, I have managed to connect my Garmin Nuvi SatNav to the AUX Port and it works perfectly.
I used 3 x JST Male connectors – These connectors are commonly used in the Radio Controlled world for battery connection. The connectors have 2 sockets that fit the AUX pins perfectly – Search on Ebay for JST Male they’re about £1 each (COLOUR RED). I also used a stereo cable with a 3.5mm plug.
You need to remove the original 12 Pin connector block and cut the Black lead, this lead will be connected with a JST Plug.
JST Plug 1.
Remove the RED lead and join the BLACK lead to the Black lead cut from the 12 Pin connector block above. This plug will push onto pins 11 (no connection) and 12 (Audio Ground)
Cut the Stereo lead to an appropriate length and strip the wire - there will be 2 small leads for the left and right channels and the shielding wire for the AUX Screen
JST Plug 2.
Join the RED lead to one of the small Stereo leads and the BLACK lead to the other small Stereo lead. This plug will push onto pins 7 (Right AUX input) and 8 (Left AUX input)
JST Plug 3.
Remove the RED lead and join the BLACK lead to the Stereo lead shielding wire. This plug will push onto pins 6 (Aux Screen) and 5 (no connection)
Look carefully in the socket on the back of the head unit, pins 1,6,7 and 12 are identified.

Connecting into the Disco3's wiring loom
Hi all
I have been reading and re-reading this thread - but would like some guidance please.
I have the 3.5mm cable and plug ready to plug into an Android Touch Screen. This outputs to the Aux and I want to connect into the cable loom in the left footwell.
The 3.5mm cable wires are very thin and I am concerned about making a decent connection to the wires in the harness. What ways have others used to make the connection?
1. Strip the wires and solder in the 3.5mm cables
2. Cut into the loom and apply crimped on connectors
3. Used a T-connector to connect the wires
Before I go an make a mess, I would like to check on your approaches first!
Thanks in advance!

Volume very soft via aux compared with radio
I fitted the Android screen yesterday- nice!
I chickened out of cutting into the car's loom because I didn't want to end up creating problems.
I plugged an aux cable directly into the aux socket at the back of the centre console. The sound works on Aux, but is VERY soft compared with the standard radio output. (Volume for aux at 32 is about the same as the radio at 12) This is with the Android Screen volume at Max as the input as well.
Reading this forum, I see that this occurs when you wire directly into the loom but do not plug into the Aux socket at the back of the rear console.
This socket has always been a little softer but not this drastic.
I also have the 6CD changer head unit, and the connectors are somewhat different to the images that have been posted - I believe they relate to the singe CD head unit.
The connectors that I have to the head unit are (from left to right as the unit comes out of the
dash:
* Twin orange connectors - I believe for optic sound?
* Small connector as shown in the photo
* Larger connector as shown in the photo
* Aerial connector
Any suggestions?

I know thread is quite old now but can someone help me please.
On the aux 12pin connector on the back of the head unit (photo attached) is the red wire RIGHT or LEFT channel as it mentions both in this thread.
Also the table of pin connections on that block (also attached) suggests red is LEFT channel
Be good to get a definitive if anyone can help please.
Thanks

Thanks Ruben!
While I’m at it, anyone tell me how to get the Aux and 12v socket panel in the second row out? Is it a case of lift the flap and just pull it out?
Once out does the 12v socket come out easy enough? I want to replace it with a USB charge adapterMick
