Whistle

It helps to soften it up by leaving it in boiling water for a short while. The plastic expands, and becomes more pliable, and is quite easy to push it in then Thumbs Up

Sorry was reading on iPhone. Smile

Sorted out the faults with the software updates and reset, also had to replace a fuse, that said though I am stoked to have learnt from this how to do it, wasn't difficult really, just a touch awkward at times.

Works a treat and solved the issue of one corner dropping over night. (So far & fingers crossed)

Service action Q213 has recently been released. This is to replace any Hitachi compressors that were changed under warranty to AMK compressors.

AMK compressors are now fitted from factory and the only compressor available from factory, for Disco\Sport and also FFRR!

Now that we know that these compressors have a lo of problems and LR knows it, what could happen if the compressor fail once the warranty is over??? For instance, the first D4....

Does someone if they have to make modifications to fit the AMK?

Hi all, have just done this mod on a friends car, very easy to do.Would just like to know, is the exhaust noise of the air released also so much louder than the Hitachi ones on the AMK you fitted.

Not really. Normally, a noisy exhaust can be atributed to a pipe that has chaffed through, or a poor seal on the quick release couplings Thumbs Up

Interesting... Mine is a little noisier so I might look in to it again, but don't feel it's actually of concern.

SantiD3 I didn't modify anything on mine, they designed it based on the space available and the mounting points already existing.

I noticed there seemed to be less foam in the covers than the first one so I imagine that has cause people to assume its louder? I have hardly heard it since installing.

This version has been issued to add pre 10MY vehicles.

Manufacturing have previously used two different types of air suspension compressors. See Below for applicable VIN Ranges. If the Hitachi or old-design AMK air suspension compressor requires replacement, then a new-design AMK air suspension compressor can be installed.

Hitachi air suspension compressor fitted from VIN:

Discovery 3/LR3 - 5A000360 to 9A513325

Range Rover Sport - 5A900302 to 9A215622

Hitachi or old-design AMK air suspension compressor fitted from VIN:

NOTE: Some vehicles may have been previously repaired using the old-design AMK air suspension compressor.

Discovery 4/LR4 - AA513326 to CA638964

Range Rover Sport - AA215623 to DA768550

NOTE: The Fault Code C1A20-64 may also be displayed.

Really as per Mikeys write up, then:

CAUTION: SDD must be loaded with DVD131.07 calibration file 118 loaded or later.
reflash air sus ecu

regards
Steve

Which differences have the old style AMK and the "new" AMK? I was thinking that there was and are only one AMK type of compressor, maybe LR part number?

It may be a little noisier which is nothing to worry about. If it is a lot noisier, then you have an issue

Troubles after AMK compressor upgrade

Hi guys

we had issues with the notorious HDC fault:

When I reset the steering angle sensor with my Hawkeye it would run fine for about 3-5km and then throw up the HDC fault again.

I changed the compressor for the new AMK one. Then took the car to our local LR stealer to have the suspension software updated.

Since then all went wrong. Car now sports two model dates, i.e. 2005 and 2008 model, and HDC fault comes up as soon as ignition is switched on.

Is it possible, that the stealers loaded the wrong software for the air suspension ecu?

Subsequently took the car to our indie to fix and they found and fixed the following faults:

1.wheel alignment out (pulling left)

2. RF wheel bearing very badly worn.

However after all the repairs the suspension faults are still there.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The RLM software should not be causing your faults. The AMK will still run with the older software, albeit, bringing the lights on after a few minutes...

Hi Disco_Mikey

thanks for your reply.

Anthony "BABEN" reflashed the air suspension software this morning with the latest one released for the Faultmate MSV2. So far all is ok. I now need to drive the vehicle for an hour or so to ascertain that it is fine now.

The software loaded is 9H2M-14D394-AA.

Maybe this will help someone else.

England

Has anyone got any pictures of the unit in place with the cover fitted ?

I had mine fitted at Roean Landrover in Telford just before Xmas and whilst looking around the motor today (first decent day this year) I saw the pictures at http://sdrv.ms/161tmRH

To me the pipes either look mis-routed or is this new one a codge ?

IDS - not 100% sure but the original routing of one of the compressor pipes led to it being chaffed through by the movement of the EPB cable, it's just possible the Tech has re routed yours slightly to avoid this problem Smile I'm sure D-M, or one of the other knowledgeable guys on here will shine a light on this?? Thumbs Up

Hi All

just a short follow up on the HDC Fault whoes on our D3. Turned out to be a faulty yaw sensor. I got one from British4X4 (biggest LR scrap yard in SA). Fitted that and the fault was gone.

Now we are sitting with another problem, the gear lever refuses to go out of Park when the vehicle has warmed up. Seems to be a wiring issue.

Maybe someone has had this before. Rolling Eyes
