Hi Colin
could you please point me to the correct BBS shop section to buy items needed for the genesis?
i mean
LD035 Faultmate Genesis / FCR VCI2 lead
LD040 LD020 to LD035 convertor
'cause i already have an USB to serial convertor
guys, wasn't able to find the LD035 on bbs site shop, really
i know it's probably me but i found it under the "Faultmate FCR" tab then FCR30 (the D3) then "more informations" as part of the kit
didn't find the way (and the pricing) to purchase it

Many thanks for helping filo out in my absence maplecottage
Welcome aboard Per
I have to say i am pretty impressed by your Electronic DIY skills
Like anyone registered on Genesis, Once you have your vehicle connected to the internet with the client application etc, you, or actually anyone else in the world who you provide your log in details to, can then use anything that has a web browser and internet connection to log into the genesis web site and take diagnostic control of your vehicle.
Of course anything currently possible via genesis is totally harmless, someone can only log in when you have the vehicle connected, and you can reset your password etc at any time and as many times as you wish.
As stated before, i am hoping that a couple of Genesis beta testers that are located some distance apart can directly hook up with each other, privately exchange log in details, arrange a time and then log into and temporarily take control of each others vehicles, maybe even at the same time and doing a bit of tit for tat lamp illumination. Effectively playing the words first ever Disco 3 Diagnostic ping pong.
Although it's probably too technical to get a mention in the guiness book of records
Sounds interesting. So we'll be able to "nuke" our cars each other , wunderbar me first

Thank you Colin for your kind words..
Marco and I have planed for a remote run on Monday. Exchanged skype id so we can talk through it.
And waiting for Ajay too
Wel.. I have tested the Genesis a bit more.
Connected my laptop to the genesis, client up and running on a pretty low signal strenght.. between 1 and 2 on the signal strenght meter.
Web browsing is pretty slow. and I get the orange triangle on the connection on windows.
I went inside and started the diagnostics and it sure worked fine.
Went on my Motorola Defy Android phone. connected the phone to the wifi, the same as the laptop. worked realy wel..
So i thought i should move out of range of the wifi, so my mobile had to switch to GSM to keep me online.
Roaming isnt it?
Wel. from Wifi to Gsm, no loss in connection.
back again from Gsm to Wifi No loss on connection..
So whis system proves to be realy Wel thought out and planed.
I must say Im Awesome impressed by the stability and how it all works in perfect harmony.
Goin to try a few more alternative ways, to see how it will work out.

So this is how it went down, all the way from Norway to France..
To bad My D3 is not here with me so Marco could have a go. the cambelt service found out that I had rust holes in the engine sump pan.. leaking oil.. How the hell?? rusty brake pipes. and all the other usual stuff that needs to be replaced.
Any more test of us Colin?

Excellent!!
Do not pay attention to my horrible English ........ I have Shame!
All of the tests were conducted quickly and without problems, despite my distance of my wifi router and despite Skype connected at the same time on my little laptop!
Don't worry , I changed my password now................
