My Altox has sent me 100s of Text messages in @1/2hr telling me what my Giff Gaff balance is and eaten through all my credit, over £20.
I've disabled balance notifications on my Giff Gaff account via the website, but can only test to see if that's worked by topping up another £10
The Giff Gaff guys are convinced it's the Altox gone wrong and sending the messages.
Anyone else had this.

quite the opposite for me ... never got any low credit warning and went for about 3 months with a non-functioning tracker as a result.

Then text it "settings1"....copy here in a reply what you get,
but blank the phone numbers stored...

I had the same thing yesterday, managed to turn off notifications after it 49 messages within 5 minutes!
I contacted them and this is what I got back this morning.
Not too pleased; will follow it up for a refund.

The good news is that you're not being charged for the texts you are receiving from the 43431 number, rather you are receiving notifications that you are being charged for usage.

Now in terms of why you were being charged, it looks like you were sending multiple texts to one number, however you're using the SIM in what looks like some kind of GPS device?

Just had the same today eat the majority of my £10 balance 
Does finding and switching off notifications on my giff gaff account sort it or is it Altox settings that now have to be changed to suit Giff Gaffs new policy? D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo

In your GiffGaff account, go to my profile and settings, then go right to the bottom af the page and the last but one item is balance notifications. Set them to off and save it

Yes, turning off balance notifications sorts it out.
I sent a message via the website to Giff Gaff and had a full refund within 8hrs.
They made changes to the way balance notifications were sent, and it sent anyone whose balance notifications were being forwarded to another phone into a constant loop.
My Altox sent me a message because of a low battery warning.
Because the SIM had sent a message and used credit Giff Gaff sent me a Free text with my new balance.
But of course my Altox forwarded it to my EE Phone which is chargeable.
So Giff Gaff sent me another Free text with my new balance.
Which my Altox again forwarded to my EE Phone which is again chargeable.
So Giff Gaff sent me another Free text with my new balance.
Etc, Etc until I ran out of credit.
I can see the funny side of it now I've got my money back.

I've just received 61 messages from the giffgaff card in my Altox which has just wiped out the balance.
Each text told me that it was charged from my credit balance! and that was it!
Anyone else had similar? formerly Disco3Ben

After several messages to customer services where they told me it was my fault and only refunded £2 as a gesture of good will. I eventually sent the exert from Bizbauer‘s post above to the complaints department and within minutes got another £10 refunded so ended up in front after alot of faff!

Hope that helps, it wasnt so much the money but the fact they just changed things and blamed me. Also make sure you switch notifications off in your settings first on the giff gaff site otherwise it will start over again once credited D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo
