I thought a remap would improve mpg but this isn’t how it seems to be reading in here?

That’s subjective. The problem with added performance is the need/want to utilise it.
If you were very strict and drove like for like (pre and post map) you would see some improvement. In the real world that doesn’t happen!
I went for a TDI tuning box on my D4 it has 7 modes to choose from and if run in economy there is a definite improvement…. But who wants to run it there all the time! Lol
Shameless plug…. It’s up for sale in the classifieds. It’s a good 2nd best for those who have warranty (like me) or can’t be bothered to dig the ECU out….. it’s plug and play and Bluetooth controlled from your phone.
Just an alternative to the alive remap. A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

Re: More engine/fan noise after remap |

Hpal wrote:Hi all, I'm in Australia and have had my independent LR garage remap my 2.7 disco 3 with a stage 1 Alive remap. It goes better than before, fuel consumption is probably the same. The issue I've got with it is the horrendous noise coming from the engine bay after the remap, it sounds like the fan roaring for no reason when just coasting along, I'm thinking it's the way they've adjusted the throttle settings or transmission settings if they do that. It's not the sound of the engine revving, more like the fan roaring when under load but the engine isnt under load, it wasnt like this before and is too noisy for my liking. I'd hate to hear it coming down the street, sounds like engine is revving off it's tits but going nowhere fast.
So, have you been back to them and asked about it? Mine - MY09 L319 D3 HSE Lion 2.7 TDV6 and modified MY03 LT L318 Discovery 2a HSE Td5 15P

Depends on the remap.
If you go for maximum power then your prioritising power and torque over fuel economy.
If you go for maximum fuel economy then you might be sacrificing power, torque and drivability.
If you go for something in-between then it could be what ever you make it...
Our D4's with BAS remap were prioritised for towing capability (horse float, boats and caravan), EGT and fuel economy. I've been very impressed with it's performance and economy. Mine - MY09 L319 D3 HSE Lion 2.7 TDV6 and modified MY03 LT L318 Discovery 2a HSE Td5 15P

Never ever believe that
Your car does not have enough power hence the reason you want it tuned, so you tune it, and drive it that little bit harder as that is what you want the car to do, and driving it harder uses more fuel.
