Hi
Just joined the forum, been reading quite a lot of the discussions that are really interesting.
I have never owned a land rover, but looking for a disco 3.
I have found a 56 plate with 67000 miles on the clock. Obviously that is low mileage for a disco of that age (from the ones that I've seen). The only thing that worries me is the age, as I have never had a land rover I don't know how reliable the older models are.
Also is there anything I need to look out for or any common problems that I should know about?
Hope to be reading some replies soon so I can get my disco ASAP
Tom

Welcome Tommy and good luck with your search.
It's been said a million times over on here but service history is key. Yours should have had or be due it's 7 year / 105k 'big' service which includes the belts.
I have an 06 plate which I have had from nearly new and I'm up to 107K. There are others on here with much higher mileage. It's not been the most reliable car I have had but neither has it been the worst.
In my opinion, age is less of an issue than proper maintenance - if it's been looked after well then many of the faults will have been dealt with by now (at least, first time around!).
Anyway, that's bumped your post back up the list so hopefully you'll get some more informative responses from all the very knowledgeable and helpful folks on this forum.

totally agree, history with plenty of receipts is far more important, with low mileage that's very impressive, so long as it runs very smooth and quite for a TDV6, start it from cold, and from hot with the bonnet up and listen to the engine closely,
see how it drives, what the tyres are like, at this mileage, should be either new or 5-6mm I would expect.
only once above is done and ticked off the list move on the bodywork, and all interior, leather toys etc.
money on the running gear will stop you from doing inside nice to haves.....

I don't know why you are worried about the age,
If it looks, sounds and goes well shouldn't be a problem ( I hope)
As said if it has a full history all the better
Ask if the belts have been changed, in your case for age not mileage.
That should be your biggest expense if not done.
Good luck and welcome by the way.

Thank you
I will make sure of the service history and ask about the big service with the belts as this sounds expensive !! If not try and get them to service it before I buy it.
