I know this topic has been done to death but mine decided to fail yesterday just after 5 hrs gardening and chainsawing - just about to go to the local recycling centre.
So those who haven't checked theirs or replaced it recently I'd seriously think about putting the mods in place that's shown on some of the recent threads.
Whichever bright spark from Land Rover came up with that design (must be the same  idiot who placed the crossmember so the gearbox sump pan cannot be easily removed) really needs a beating.
My beefy sausage fingers are now and luckily my missus's little hands got in there to pull the bloody cable. Once open it was an easy job.
Parts gone up though as well. Old threads say 25 quid. Its nearer to 60 now! Robbing bazzas.
