2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

lost all drive

06 disco 3 auto 112k miles
suddenly lost all drive while cruising about 65

wife was driving-reported feeling like flat tyre and air type noise as car came to halt
when she put in drive or reverse just gets a sound as if a belt is slipping (down to phone-to me)

had it recovered-darent try the drive to test sound
starts/runs etc all other stuff working

can move gear lever into all gears etc-ie to get neutral for lowloader

had recently started showing service and a decreasing number, on the dash
took this as meaning; yes, its due a service but didnt check in book
down to about 12 from about 24?

apart from that no indications before this of any faults
thank god she was only few miles from home

have dumped at local garage until monday
any thoughts, o wise ones? 1933 austin riley 1963 lambretta Li150

2015 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Lux Auto Fuji White

That happened to me 1 week into ownership, still had reverse though. Garage explained it as some sort of nut/flange on the exterior of gearbox that moved a plate inside.
Been fine since it got sorted, mine a '56 plate. Paul.

uh o, never mind
sounds like its my transfer box as i have select and drive out of gear box but nothing out of transfer box

main spline shaft worn out of splines from gear box into transfer box ; both male and female

rebuild x 2 cerching 1933 austin riley 1963 lambretta Li150
