Suspension Self levelling |
|
Need some advice to see if I have an expensive problem developing or its just normal
After a drive of 20 mins or so, when I park the car up, engine still running, after a couple of mins the car levels its self, drops at the back first and then the front. No warning signs or bongs
I have checked tyre pressures and made sure the car is parked on level ground
The only consistent thing I can think of is there are speed bumps just before I go into the car park
Any ideas what my issues could be

I know my D3 self levels after parking when the engine is shut down and doors are locked. But i have not tested it to see what happens if I do not lock the car or shut the engine down. perhaps i can test it tomorrow..

Mine does the same. I've noticed it when I fill up with diesel, if the entrance to the filling station has a large bump or speed hump etc, when I get out of the car to fill up, sometimes it will adjust itself up/down with the engine off.

I have seen issues like this on a forum member's car.
The underlying issue was corrosion in the valve block, which prevented the valve from sealing correctly. The pipework before the block is as much as 18 bar, and at the bags, generally around 10 bar at normal ride height. The extra pressure creeps through the valve, and raises 1, or both corners. When the car realises it is too high, it drops itself down to self level
