Another Amber light!!

So I could write a book about the last year and my 56 Disco 3 HSE.

The latest, I have an intemittent amber suspension light. Now I've have had the whole bloody rainbow with suspension before including the whole suspension dropping with my twin axle caravan in tow. Not Fun.

Anyway, I think this is less serious. I reported this to my indy while the cam belts were being changed recently. Their diagnostics showed nothing. As I drove away... bong...amber light. I got them to bring the diagnostics sharpish. There we saw it. A pressure retention problem. We saw the voltage to the compressor (13.67 ok) and watched the pressure building up to artound 1650. It then seemed to dump the pressure and ...bong.....Amber warning.

I've been to London and back with this intermitant warning and the car was fine. sometimes amber, sometimes not.

Any one of you genius's got a clue what is going on?

I am not a mechanic but I can understand concepts. I'm guessing a pressure release value or a dodgy sensor connection?

Any clues?

The Disco is going back in Monday but any info or genuine knowledge helps.

W.

What was the code stored? It sounds suspiciously like the compressor is not building up enough pressure, bringing the light on.

Was the code something along the lines of "Pressure increases too slowly"?

Utter guess from a mechanical numpty but check for any hairline cracks in the air dryer unit on the compressor.

Mine sheared completely off but I had a few flickers the day before.

Like I said a guess but worth a look.

Thumbs Up

Yes 'Pressure increases too slowly'. The mechanic recognised it and said he would order a compressor just in case.
Just looking to further my knowledge really (and not get ripped off).

Last night driving from Londinium - Park Royal to M6T services - Amber. After coffee and a short break clear. This morning around town - Amber.

As Dave says, it could be as simple as a cracked air dryer unit, but IME, the pressure does not get that high...

A dryer costs around £60 IIRC, but is easy to see if you remove the bottom cover and spray the dryer with soapy water while the compressor runs...
