Wheel Bearings front disco 3 XS 2.7

After a long journey my front drivers side hub was pretty hot. The other side was warmish. Could this be a wheel bearing. The main heat being right in the centre

more than likely to be brake related, if you touch the brake caliper with yer finger and then compare the caliper on the other side, if both the same would lead me to believe the disc is warped on that side of the car Thumbs Up

Have you had the discs replaced recently?

I cannot stress enough how careful you need to be if using a hand/finger/flesh to touch any hot brake components. Shocked Very Happy

+1^^^^^ .i had a binding caliper and it was reading 450 degrees c within 15 minutes.tried everything but a new caliper was required.normally upto about 90 degrees with a little bit of breaking normally and checking.Be careful and your nose can detect heat from the smelling as well.flick some saliva on wheel for a quick check.

Thanks for replies. Have had problems with front disc warp. Have new Brembo discs ready for fitting. Was running other discs after having them skimmed. The existing NEW discs have never been any good since fitting about 6months ago. Thief have warped twice and it looks as though they have warped again. Will get new bremco discs fitted and let you how I go on

Yes Fifth Horseman, a brilliant tool. Thumbs Up Very Happy

barnsleytyke you seem to have an awful lot of warped discs, are you cleaning the mating surfaces properly before fitting the discs? Confused

I originally changed my front discs that were really worn, 80,000 miles on. I replaced them with new discs that warped and gave me shudder on braking. I skimmed them, about 20 though out. They gave me a shuddering again after 1000 miles. I changed my bottom ball joint and also re skimmed the discs again. I also bought new Brembo discs as the new ones were not up to spec. I have not fitted the new Brembo discs as yet and it looks as though the discs that are still on have meanwhile warped again. Will change for the Brembo discs and will definitely make sure mating surfaces are clean. Thanks for reply and will post results on site Cheers

Are you sure the brakes aren't binding as that can warp discs quite quickly as they get over heated even if its only a small amount. I would hate to see you fit your new ones and have them go the same way.
