Acceleration Lag, Black smoke and tinkling noise....

I have a 04 plate, one of the original press Launch fleet D3's, now done 125,000miles.

When i was in the Alps ate easter i noticed that there was a acceleration lag when putting foot down when coming out of hairpins, and then at the weekend i towed the caravan for the first time this year, and some black smoke, especially on the drivers side exhaust....

Finally, reading on here, i also get a tinkling noise on start up, and when lifting off the gas...

Has the time come to blank off my EGR's I wonder ???

What is the best kit to buy ? do you still need to replace a tinkling EGR as well ?

Update... had injector checked, all seems ok there (phew !! Surprised )

So its back to EGR's, as it seems like the right hand exhaust to giving black smoke when left isn't....

Any comments ??

it wont be right hand bank just because right hand exhaust smokes worse as both banks are joined before turbo and dont split again until through the silencer more likeley than not split intercooler hose intercooler or egr sticking slightly open
blank egrs check the big hose and replace if problem spotted if it still does it then keep looking for leaks
 Club original turbo
161k and counting
general AT's, oval timer, blanked egr's, silicone intercooler hose's

Also agree with above points. May also be worth making sure turbo actuator is moving freely.

Its split the hose before, and when it did that it was like a james bond car with a smokescreen !! Its not that bad....

I'll check the hoses again, and get the turbo actuator checked.

I'll get the EGR's blanked then see what its doing.

Thanks all....
