Recently I spent a long time looking for a pickup, I have been using my D4 for work and got fed up with the state of the inside when it came for weekend family time. Also I do a bit of stalking and its so much easier to wash the blood out of the back!

I wanted an Auto and at least 3 tonne towing, so....

I test drove the VW Amarok, felt underpowered and no low range, Hilux, not enough pulling and big engine no grunt, Ford Ranger, didn't like, Navara, yeuch, L200 thirsty and no pull, so I settled on the Isuzu D-Max Utah.

Its not a D4, but its nice spec, leather, A/C, obviously bumpy when empty, but thats common, the best bit though, on a 75 mile drive back home from Herefordshire last night..... 35 mpg!

Only problem is I live near Stow on the Wold, so twice a year I cant drive it as we have Stow Gypsy Fair and a large Police presence Very Happy

Why has'nt any of the manufacturers come out with a 4 door pickup with decent suspension as they all ride really bad with no weight in the rear.

I have the potential of having a Ranger d/cab 2.2 for work, the other option being a Ford Focus estate. I currntly have a Ranger on loan and have been driving it for a few weeks now, with and without a trailer. It does bounce with nothing in the back Evil or Very Mad It pulled pretty well and I have acheived between 22.5 and 29.7mpg.

Still think a 110 USW is a far better option Very Happy

You wait until Thursday James, its fooking mayhem, the Old Bill use the Rugby Club to store the badly parked (read abandoned) and untaxed vehicles. The only trouble is that all that happens is a Transit full of burly blokes turn up and take them back and the OB look nervous! BUT, they dip everyone for red diesel, so ENT, stay away Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

one very good fing about the ranger in the 3.2auto version, most of its gizmos are ex FORD/LR days so yer got HDC, 6 speed ZF gearbox oh and yer don't need an Operators Licence coz its kerb weight is less than 2040kg even in the LTD version Thumbs Up

unlike the VW
