Make sure your stop-locks are greased!
While driving off a car park I had to turn the steering wheel full lock to the left and when I applied a bit of acceleration I heard a bone-chilling metal on metal crunching sound. It sound like my axel slowly snapping off!
Nipped round to my uncle who immediatley asked "Are your stop-locks greased?"
Well, they were bone-dry and caked up with cráp.
Cleaned 'em up, applied lashings of grease and all seems well for the time being.
Go check yours!

A decent Indy/garage will check and grease these when they are servicing the car

Have a look at DMs post on changing the balljoint here
..or as near permanent as you can get..
is to use the type of grease that off road bikers use on their bikes
sticks like poo to a blanket...& does the task....also low cost.BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Had this problem on my old hilux surf
Best solution after trying all sorts of greases and copper slips was................
Vaseline as recommended by a forum
