Replacing 2005 engine to 2008 - help is needed

Hi,

We have a 2005 Disco3 which has been damaged due to a tensioner fault.
We have a replacement 2008 engine and the high-pressure fuel-pump is not the same as on the 2005 engine.

We wonder if we need to remount the 2005 fuel-pump on the 2008 engine?
Or should it be just fine?

The engine number plates seem to say the engines are both 276DT but clearly there are differences and the harness connectors locations are different as well.

One told us LR replaced the pump from Siemens to Bosch (or the other way) so the ECU won't be able to run the pump.

We will appreciate your help with it.

Attached are the images of the engine numbers (the one with the yellow dot above it is the 2008 engine).

Have done it many times before, the basic engine is the same, but all ancillaries, and wiring loom need swapped over.

HPFP, covers and lines are different, EGR's are different, Cooling system is different, Breather system is different.
Consider changing the oil pump before fitting though. Well documented failure on 07/08MY's

Thumbs Up

Mickey,

Thank you for your reply.

Just to be sure - I should keep the 2005 ECU, and replace all the other parts:
- HPFP
- Covers and lines
- EGR
- Cooling system
- Breather
- Looms

Correct?
Any other tips before diving into the job?

thx

Yes, original ECU stays with the car

You basically strip everything off your old engine, and compare it to the bits on the new engine. If they are different, then swap them over
