he must have some patience, ive done plenty of towing 3.5ton generators and apart from the mind numbing 60mph max the scary moments trying to stop 3.5tons of trailer and the total idiots who just dont understand that you need space to stop, if i had done 555555 miles i would be on all kinds of legal drugs by now. to characterDiscovery 3 TDV6 Commercial 2007

Um, the trailer is braked itself, so whilst it will take a bit longer to stop, it shouldn't make a massive difference - at least it doesn't when I tow my caravan - not the same weight, but the principle is the same surely?Mark.

so original parts.....
front passenger and rear passenger seats....umm interior lights, upper glove box lid
TBH, its been a labour of love and a deep pocket but rather than take up business finance (if yer can ever get any these days), the past few years has been spent restoring the mechanical/running gear/drivetrain.
Last of the major jobs was a new rear diff (second one), half driveshafts oh and the new style air compressor. All major works such as engine/turbo/injectors/HP &LP fuel pumps/prop/front and rear driveshafts, etc have all been done in the past 12 months.
I guess the secret is to go for OEM LR ORIGINAL PARTS and not LR recon parts (except the engine which was recon unit of which the first engine failed after 6 months and was replaced at LR expense).
Yes in total I could have bought a new d4 or 2 older d3's but then run with finance costs on top of massive depreciation coupled with huge repair costs for older d3, this way I own it outright and repairs costs can be offset against profit in the same year rather than with a new D4 only being able to offset a proportion of its value each year over a period of three years and then find a short fall between the finance costs and the true value of the vehicle.....but hey that's what I keep saying to myself anyway

assuming the trailer brakes are properly maintained that would be so, i was once told by a certain transport manager that there was nowt wrong with those trailer brakes, the next day another employee was passed by the same twin axel generator trailer on the outside lane going down the big hill near to rhyll on the A55, the impact caused by the faulty hitch damper caused it to jump off the tow ball, what happened to the emergency snatch chain this snapped and coz the brakes were nearly metal on metal the generator trailer was only stopped by the central reservation barrier. Scary stuff the poor lad didnt like towing after that, i wonder why. Discovery 3 TDV6 Commercial 2007

MY 2012 BJ tri-axle, serviced every 6 weeks (inc taking off hub, new hub nuts) by Al-ko qualified caravan & trailer specialist, just had new brake shoes all round at £90 odd per axle.......lost count of the number of lights that BJ have sent me FOC due to corrosion of the pins at the back of the connector......next task before the autum will be to completely rewire it for LED's now that its out of warranty
