Thanks for all the info posted so far. My parts arrived yesterday from TLO so this weekend should see the project underway. I still have to get that connector from the gear selector to back of screen so really appreciate the information already posted.

Hi Grant, good photo.. Thank you. Now to me that looks like a male connector, so asuming it is and also same on the screen end , then the following Ebay item Female/Female cable should fit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120993869660, this is to bridge between the screen and your shown connector. The alternatives are Ebay cable item http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120994843344 which is male/male, or Ebay cable item http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110946586102 which is male/Female..
I think the cable needed is the first one Female/Female.. can anyone confirm this, or I will just have to order all 3 to cover...

I think the SMB male/female is difficult to tell and even some images on google have them swapped round.
It is something I have been worrying about as well. I have not have the nav screen out but..
....that Fakra connector by the gear knob is different to the one on the jump lead sold on the Disco3 shop for fitting the nav screen (I know the other end is a phono but different to the SMB end).
I have a Male or Plug SMB cable which snugly fitted onto that Fakra and presume it is a male/plug to go in the back of the nav screen as per the Disco shop jump lead.
So, I bought a 1m (edited out....male to male....) plug to plug SMB which I 'hope' will do the job.
As you say the Fakra in the car looks 'male' as you see the pin but it is also called a jack but the corresponding fitting does fit inside the outer metal ring although gets penetrated with the pin (oooeer missus)
Anyway, if someone knows better please correct me. But I bought a SMB plug to plug (edited from male to male) nd it looks different to the Fakra in the car and fits that end.

My car is 2010 and by all accounts it does not use fakra/smb but instead a 6 pin connector. Can wiggs or anyone advise how I connect this to the back of the nav unit?

2 pin plug ...same spacing as you get on a pc cd/dvd drive
maplins do some single connectors ...just push them over the correct pins ( 2 & 5 ) for the cameraG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Hi All, rear OEM bits and bobs ordered fom TLO.. Just chasing the Fakra leads now to the screen and then a huge amount of courage required to take an almost new car apart...
One question ref the rear camera installation and connections.. Can I assume its fairly logical, ie. no leads hidden away and the micro switch position is obvious? .. Just checking.. trying to get all ducks in a row so I can do this all in one hit..

Having looked at my leads which arrived yesterday they do look logical. There are three distinct plugs going in the heading end which include the camera video and power. The other ends look as though they will be obvious when the trim is removed. I'll try and post some pictures of the parts later tonight

The lead I bought called SMB PLUG to PLUG (top) against the Disco3 shop lead SMB (bottom)
Above is what Wiki says..
And below a link to website with what some sellers call Male and Plug....but looks like the wiki pic of Female...
So, Plug is good and depending on what side of the ocean you are male or female...
clear as mud.

Camera with secure fakra and twin pin for power/earth
Micro switch with camera fitting Fakra to loom and main loom and presumed no plate lights connectors.
Main loom from rear head lining to micro switch. See the brown Fakra which will join with the fakra in the headlining seen on the first page of this topic. The other end has smaller connectors which I hope will be obvious when trim is removed.
