G3 Professional scratch remover...Brilliant !
I have tried most things, but had a go on my tailgate today with this stuff... http://www.g3pro.com/products/G3ScratchRemover
I am careful about removing as much road grit as possible before washing the car,but the previous owner was not so like-minded.
The car being black, swirl marks are very obvious, and the tailgate was almost a dull grey, the paint covered in 7 years of swirl marks and generally in poor condition. As you know the D3 chucks up a lot of road grime over the tailgate.
Anyway, had a go with this stuff today and it is superb....I even did a "before" and "after" and took it to show my pal,who owns a Java D3 also
The car was bad enough that I was seriously considering paying up to get the car professionally detailed, but I will now roll my sleeves up and do it myself this weekend
.....unlike his Bilberry wheel cleaner which made my hands smell nice but did very little else "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

It says liquid on it,but to be honest its a thick enough consistency that I would call it more paste-like....I would think the paste must be pretty thick if what I used is classed as liquid.
It was actually a small free sample sachet, but I bought the applicator waffle pads to do the job properly, and test the product thoroughly.
It was really easy to use, although it felt worryingly "gritty" to start with, but the particles reduce in size as you use it.
I finished by using some ancient Turtle Wax I had lying around, and it came up beautifully.Fully intend to go and get more of the G3 products before the weekend and do the job properly....
Like most people,I guess,I have loads of different car-care lotions and potions, collected over many years, but to be honest if the rest of the range performs like the scratch remover,I will be having a big garage clear-out after the weekend "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

One of the guys I work with bought some of the same......about the same performance as Meguairs...scratch stuff.
If you have larger areas to treat try Meguairs Ultimate Compound...the results from this are stunning & dont want to pay the big money for the professional stuff.
Waxes to protect your paintwork...."you pays your money & you take your choice"....& you can pay silly money for waxes.
If it is carnuba wax based - it should go on & stay on for at least 6 months (washing the car every week)
Most of the polish companies are now selling waxes that are suposed to have better performance than Carnuba...I have tried one on my daughters Freelander & have yet to guage just how good this afetr one years use & regular washing by her.
The turtle wax (presumably the green bottle with white cap) has some polish in there...was prety good in its time but now surpassed by the newer technology & better quality things you can buy.BREXIT - done properly.

G3 is something I have used for many years, it also brings up the fibreglass roof/front/back of my caravan like new. If you want a REALLY good finish use G10 after the G3, its a much finer cutting compound

Its been raining ....I reversed up to the wifes car to get a clear idea...put it this way,in the bottom panel you can't read the reflection of her number plate, but when i stand up it is clear to read in the top panel.......I still haven't done the bottom panel but the I think the difference is very noticeable....its even more obvious with the naked eye "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

The one thng about the Meguairs scratch remover is it doesnt have that much abrasive in it (if any)...it does remove scratches but wont even clean tarnished metal like brass.
Dont ask me how it works - but it does.....I have taken sctraches out of my beloved XK paint work colour is called Caviar..very dark red flip paint colour..but a bit like black for showing "swirls"
I tried Fareclar compunds on my daughters 1961 Morris Minor oxidised paintworn & got a result...the Ultimate compound worked far far better & for our D3's is clear cote safeBREXIT - done properly.

Martin, they do G3 compound at paintstore in Leamington bud
I got a bottle which is yonks old but goes a long long way , recently used to to remove some bramble rash on Ns
Yes !
I have tried this compound hand appled & also using a polishing foam pad (Part of my FESTOOL kit)...both ways gave good results....if you use the machine a light water mist spray makes it work even better.
Worth buying & trying.....
I trust all things Meguairs...I have used them for well over 12 years...well before they were sold in the UK.
This one really does workBREXIT - done properly.

Agree totally with you BLF ref Maguires. I have just used it and it has taken out ALL the bush scratches that I have acheived over the last three years. Not the deep marks mind but everything that has marked the surface coating on my grey D3. Thought it was expensive when I bought it but after use, it's really good value. I'm now a Maguires fan.
