Anyone got a spare centre cubby box lid that they are prepared to part with ?

What's the project mate? Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:

I'd try a pm to simonez, he is normally a good source. Other place to try is cws breakers, as recommended by TLO http://www.cws4x4.co.uk/, I have used them a few times and are very good. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

My handle went the same way after a 'slamming' issue.
In my case I took the lid apart and repaired the now broken pin mount with the cut off end of a small electrical connector.
Taking the lid off is easy - there's just the two screws and a straight pull. Turn the lid over and the screws are obvious - there's one under each little rubber stopper but the stoppers are a simple prise out.
Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to fix. I see no ships........

Spiderbaby can you give me some detail of how you repaired it please as I would like to give this a go before shelling out on a replacement.
Cheers

Apologies for the delay - work stopped play.
I have taken my lid off again and taken some photos of the repair I made - it's not pretty but it works well and it can't be seen. Total cost to do was nil.
I've put a (rough and ready) write up in my gallery here: http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...Repair.pdf I see no ships........

That's brill. I have a wrecked one from the D3 that can be salvaged, looked at it and saw no fix. It did not occur to remove the inner although it should have occurred to me as the D4 (and probably late D3s too) has a leather cover nipped in by this very thing. Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
"What is the first rule when overlanding?"
