are there any EGR fault codes ?
I get the mass airflow error now and again when the K&N air filter is fitted, but never had the engine management light come on with it.
is that the only code showing ?Duncan

no other faults but when cleared re check and fault is still there , when I check in the live data theres nothing were as on my own disco you can see the percentages altering when you rev the engine but I have not in the past have one completly die on me thats why I am wondering if there could be a wirring fault , but we have now orderd a new mass air flow meter so thingers crossed will post the out come many thanks

MAF sensors do fail. I've had one replaced and local dealer had a spare in the workshop so not the first.
Handy way to check (thanks to Steve Norman for this!) disconnect the MAF sensor and take it for a drive. The engine light will come on but the computer will estimate the values based on the throttle position. If it drives better like this than with the MAF sensor plugged in then it's defintely bad. Mine didn't throw a fault code though - it was just reporting bad values but within range.
And this is the mass-air-flow (MAF) sensor beside the air filter NOT the mass-air-pressure (MAP) sensor on top of the engine that there's another thread about, just to save confusion!!
