Help in suspension fault diagnosis
The air system on my other D3 (4.4 V8 2006) has recently been struggling to raise and displays an error message along the lines of SUSPENSION RAISING SLOWLY.
I think I may need a replacement compressor but as it's just the front of the car that's down on the bump stops on both sides (the rear is sitting pretty at the normal road going height) could this indicate that the problem may be confined to the front system only? Can anyone please suggest any pointers and perhaps also advise the location of the 2 fusible links 10E and 11E. I have checked fuses F3E, F26E and F35P but these are ok as is the air supply unit relay.
Any advice gratefully received!
PS just noticed when I walked away from the vehicle and locked it there was a wheezing air noise like the system was venting for 2 or 3 seconds, something I never noticed before - yet again I'm not the shiniest spanner in the box!

Mine had the same error message...replaced the compressor 5-6 weeks ago....seems to have cured the bulk of the problems...
although it is at access height when I go out in the morning,so I think I too have an air leak somewhere requiring more investigation (and,no doubt,money....) "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Hi Spector
As Marco says, if you only have the problem in the front, probable the fail will be in the front valves, it will be very interesteing if you can check it (number 1 in the picture)

I have had same on a V8 D3 front only problem - I think its one of the height sensors I will get it checked and see if I am right.
Similar symptoms on an SC Range Rover turned out to be a height sensor. Quick easy fix but you need the codes read to check which one (if any)

Help in suspension fault diagnosis
Probably best not to drive the vehicle on the front bump stops 15 miles to the stealers in central Abu Dhabi to get the codes read...nor will they come to me unfortunately. I'll need to get downright and dirty and investigate further while it's still cool enough outside!
I may consider replacing all height sensors to eliminate what seems to be a common cause of air suspension problems and I'm tending to lean in favour of santiD3's prognosis that the front valves may not be operating correctly.
DSL, santiD3 euangibson, gazello, marco110 thanks for your replies, I'll report back with the findings in due course.

Worth noting that height sensor problems (codes) can lead to false valve codes as the two are closely linked and a dodgy sensor will ask a valve to release when it should not....

yep
i think that the front valves may not be operating correctly. N°1 on the schema that I have already given!
an air leak, or, if frequent, oxidized connectors!Marco.
