The top rated SUV tyres in the US

I've posted this link a few times before, but it's of interest, as all the "winning" tyres are available to us, although the General Grabber All Season tyre may only be available in 18".

http://www.consumersearch.com/suv-tires

I like it, as (thanks to this forum) I have sets of both the winning All Terrain and Mud tyres.

Don't go with anything the yanks say. Rolling with laughter

I think most will know what works well for them. Thumbs Up

Did not know you had the Kevlar MT/R's Rolling Eyes unless you have imported them.

Andy, but as you know (because I've posted many of them here :lol) the ATR has won numerous tests around the world. Plus the yanks do love a General Tire, so no surprise on the All Season winner (unless you think the "yanks" are wrong about that as well Rolling with laughter )

You're right, I've got the the old (Duraguard?) MTR's. You can get the new ones in the Uk, a mate has them fitted to his Wrangler. I've seen them, 16". Not sure if they're available in D3/4 sizes though.

As it happens I am a bit neutral with the American test as there is a difference between our useage over here and in the states, would love to do my own offical test but don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. Neutral

My sales figures tell me what's the most popular in Surrey and over the rest of the country is and yes I am happy to say (yes you guessed it) is the General AT, and at present very closely followed by Vresestein Wintrac 4 Extreme and then (again you guessed it) the Pirelli ATR. I don't fabricate these findings as I don't have to and always give my customers the choice so no arm twisting etc. Thumbs Up

I am happy to sell any brand of tyre and earn the same percentage from them all, I do not frog march anyone to the back of the workshop and beat them into choosing any one brand, if I sell them the wrong tyre they will not come back, times are hard at present so I need to hang on to all my customers, happy customers makes for a happy tyre fitter. Bow down

We are all different thank God which is great and our needs will differ from what your particular requirements are, I am only here to help and am very happy to do so. Bow down

You have made your choice and this works well for you which is great, and I for one am pleased about that just a shame you did not buy from me. Big Cry Thumbs Up

No 19" MT/R available in the U.K. through offical channels and no date.

How about plugging the General HTS, plenty of folks who own D3/4's who only occasionally venture into a field and don't need an All Terrain tyre. Don't know what sizes they come in though.

The Vredestein Quatrac 3 SUV is available in 255/60/18. I've no experience of this tyre, but I'd have thought it would be great for those who only want to run one set of tyres and don't need much off-road ability. Should offer superior on road performance in really cold weather in comparison to an All Terrain tyre. It's literally half a summer tyre & half a cold weather tyre.

Wasn't life simple when you had a choice of either Scorpions, Wrangler HP's or Goodyear MTR's

Andy, less of the "times are hard" lines, I still look at the HSV forum Mr. Green

Glad you're enjoying the S/C, the old HSV VX series were truly transformed by a blower, guess the same still applies with newer models Thumbs Up
