Roof Bars For Sale RRS fitment

Embarassed

Ahem,
For sale Roof Bars to fit RRS, part number VUB503330 Type X048.

All complete and in very good overall condition. all the caps are on the locking mechanism and the Allen key covers are all in place, Comes with all X4 Keys and the black plastic Nylon bag.

They are Black as oposed to the Bright ones with black rubber insert.

I appreciate these are NOT D3/4 However i purchased these off another forum member who was not aware that they were RRs ones !

Looking to get the £90 i paid for them.

Cheers

They would.. trouble is the rail part is the tricky bit to source... the cross bars are useless without them Big Cry

Well, you know what will happen................pass these by and then the strips will pop up Whistle

I take it the actual rail strips are a rare commodity ? tbh i never really noticed if the RRS had them or not ? i have noticed the odd RRS with cross bars on but havent paid particular attention to the fitting, until now Thud

The rails are rarely seen without the cross bars.

To fit the rails to a Sport you have to trim the finishing strips... thus if you want to remove them ever, then you need to buy new finishing strips... and people do not do that... thus plenty of 2nd hand cross bars but not many rail kits!

theyre machined on the end and fabricated for the Allen bolt ?

To get the end out would mean smashing the plastic arm on the end..........
Have you done this on yours by any chance ?

Ah OK !

So presumeably then they do come apart and there is enough room for shortening by just doing 1 side ?
I'm not wanting step step instructions just interested how u let out that channel in the middle and then re positioned the Allen bolt hole, it does come completely off the end of the rail then !

lespes / Gav

Just un done the bolts and as you quite rightly state the rest just follows,

Thanks for the helpfull tip and a nod and a wink to others who may be able to pick up on a bargain on the bay,

Me, i think i will scour the auctions and snap up some more just so i can put X4 on there, the RRS ones sell for as little as £35

Thanks again to Both

Thumbs Up

Saves a hell of a lot of hassle this way.

All done they are aloft my D3 as i type Thumbs Up

Just cut 4" off the rubber insert along the top and 4" off one side of the rail, touched the end up with a bit of hammerite and slid the elbow back on dropped the square retainer in and tightened up.

Bow down
