I currently have Grabber UHPs fitted and while they are an excellent road tyre their ability off road is very questionable. Last weekend on the in-laws farm I was heading down a wet, grassy track (carting a BBQ and other paraphernalia for a bonfire night party) and felt I was slithering about quite a bit.
As winter approaches, and with it a permanent return to my homeland, I'm contemplating changing the UHPs for something that will work better off road and will also deal with the lower temps. Would I be better with a pure winter tyre or will I get a good balance of off-road ability and winter grip with a set of AT2s?
As an aside, my brother in law was recommended by the local company who supply most of the local farms to fit a set of Yokohama W-Drive tyres to his Freelander 2 as in their view, and supposedly backed up by other customers, they can a great blend of winter and off road performance. Views?

ive had AT2 for the last 30k, great tyre and had few few problems on snow and ice around dartmoor, that said a propper set of winter tyres would of been better.... at2 are no longer available, although there is a new grabber AT that by all accounts is a cracking tyre

I ran 2 sets of AT 2 s on my D3 through the two worst winters i have known and they performed brill on snow and ice.

I used AT2s the last 2 winters too. They are great on dirt and paved roads alike and wear really well. They are great in deep snow, and alright on ice, although you need to be a little more careful.

AT2 a great tyre. But how you drive in the snow and wintry conditions is equally important.

having used both the GG AT2 (on my D2) and AT on my D3 i would go for the ATs every time. Better both on road in all conditions including snow and offroad too.
