Handbrake waring light fix - manual box

Can anyone remind me how to fix this?

The yellow brake warning light is on and the message says the APB will not auto-release. It's a manual gearbox car.

Sure there's a quick fix, but I can't remember what it is...

Thanks. Andy C

Are you thinking of the XY sensor calibration?
Starting in reverse, 10 secs in each gear?
I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

Could be the beginning of clutch problems if it has lost its gear memory

Is that not an EPB fault requiring the manual release to be pulled??

Noticed yesterday - it's not just the handbrake warning light - also the reversing sensors are not working and the gear indicator is 'slow' (takes a second or two to record a change of gear instead of being instant).

Happened once before and I had to go through the using all gears re-set, but I've lost the norte that says what else to do so Help!

Follow the gear memory retraining. If it reappears it could be:

The beginnings of a slipping clutch
A knackered xy sensor
If you lose gear indication at the same gear each time, it could be the gearbox. Try putting it gently into that gear. If it eases in, but doesn't if you slam it in, it's probably the gearbox.

Or maybe something else!

andy slightly away from your point but you mentioned the apd auto release

i didnt think there was auto releaase on the manuals only the autos or am i being a bit thick

it would be great to find out that the manual will auto release but according to my handbook its a auto only thing

and bloody annoying it dosent when you try to hill start with a 2 ton trailer

mark the spark0_1, the auto release came standard on my 08 build 2009 D3 with manual gearbox, and I activated the function on my Dad's 2006 manual D3(with Faultmate) so find some one with a FM near you! Thumbs Up

Its straight forward enough but some with 2005 D3 have struggled to get it working so no guarantees

Cheers all and yes, the auto-release works on my 2007 XS.

However, I do wonder whether its use has also led to the current problem...

Consequently, I use it manually but SWMBO doesn't always...

thanks to geoff and his faultmate in kent had my EPB auto release enabled last week all works perfect although you need to update the body control module software first took about 20 mins tops worked first time

will be used sparingly but the hillstart shuffle should be less hassle now Very Happy
