What? You mean forums aren't full of the whole truth!
That's my entire life shattered. My beliefs torn asunder. 
Based on the x-trails owned by various friends and acquaintances, there's only two types. One that have had turbo/intercooler problems and ones that are going to have turbo/intercooler problems 
A bit like every TD out there, Disco3 included.

Once Its sold Im not to fussed!

I've had 2 X-Trails before the D3 ., one petrol, one diesel (the diesel lost £2k in 18 months. - never had any issues with either. My old petrol one is still going strong to the guy I sold it to 4 years ago.
I have seen them for good prices as well.
Dont go anywhere near the Nivara - my son has just got rid of one, he had to replace the clutch - could have been something to do with using it for Sled Pulling across fields in the snow, was very thirsty and was about to go "bang" so he ditched it. D4 HSE - Aintree Green

Very recently bought a D2 with big intercooler, chipped, EGRless 2"lift, winch bumper etc etc as a toy, D3 is far tooo nice to play in (I know, sad). The D2 is an absolute beast, real fun to drive. Both my son and daughter have a D2, one is a GS but modified and the other is an ES premium. So go for one, make sure its a good one. Nick

Just sold my Xtrail for £6450..
I MADE £1000 on it in 2 years.. Not bad I reckon..
Now time to find a Defender!!

Out of budget but maybe worth a think?
53 plate (but on a private plate, included), ES Premium, 4.0 auto with LPG conversion. Just under 90k, good service history, good condition all round. All the whistles and bells; twin sunroofs, leather, phone kit, rear DVD's, park sensors, roof rails, side steps, front spots, seven seats, premium HK stereo/CD, Tow bar, 18" alloys with matching Wrangler tyres all round (5mm tread), tax and Mot till March/April next year, etc. £6600
