To continue the theme, just because you have changed the lockers, do not forget to keep checking them
I binned my lockers a couple of years ago and got new genuine nuts ( ) from TLO
Was changing the summer wheels to winter wheels, last month and 3 out of the four that I had replaced were swollen so much that the correct socket was a tight fit and had to be persuaded on
so even the genuine non-locking wheel nuts are not immune, perhaps the later genuine ones are not as good as the originals ?
Got replacements from AF, will be checking them regularly now and have a couple of spares "in stock"

As promised heres my update on removing a spinning locking wheel nut. as you may remember a had the key/socket but the front section of the nut was spining against the rear so that the key was unable to make purchase and just kept slipping off.
Well heres what i did.
First off, before any further atempts to remove the problem nut i removed the locking nuts from the other wheels and replaced them with standard wheel nuts. i Just knew that the key was gonna get trashed.
I'd spent many hours siting indoors racking my brains for ways to go about this with visions of disaster until one night i came up with the idea of using side pressure.
I parked my disco side on and about 2ft away from one of my concrete garden fence posts then with the key, 22mm socket and my breaker bar squarely on the nut i placed the OE scissor jack between the post and breaker bar and tightened. I then attempted to undo the nut as normal and blow me it worked First attempt was unsuccessful but round two and a lot more pressure and happy days.
And yes it did trash the key but no worries as i don't have lockers anymore.

Indeed, new or novel techniques is what the forum thrives off. I've dremeled then chiseled off the heads to date with fluted extractors doing the rest, but this sounds a lit easier if there is anything left internally to grip. It may even be possible to use a G-clamp when no concrete post is handy.

16 off normal wheels nuts that will get obese
4 off locking wheels nuts that will fail.

I used Damon Hallsworth's trick to succesfully remove my knackered OSR locking nut last night. Bored a small hole in the concrete post but the car can safely go in for a new rear quarter panel today without expecting any complaints from the repair centre.
Replaced all four with standard nuts before any more fail.
Will need to replace several swollen nuts now. Anyone know of a cheaper source than stealers? I paid £21 plus VAT incl. 10% discount from Taggarts in Darnley.VR6 > 330D Touring > D3 HSE > !?XC90?!
I had a failure a few weeks ago after picking up a piece of steel in the tyre. I have the nut on my desk here and it appears to have been drilled first, cap chiselled off and the remaining piece of nut opened with a hammer and drift. I had the four nuts replaced at that time.
I probably would have had a go myself but I was flying to Germany the following morning so I just left it at a local indy.'05 Silver Commercial S+ gone but never forgotten

Just looking at the epb adjustment on mine when this happened, luckily the cap split itself in two with no help from me at all!
Bit of a sod getting the nut itself out.
