What is the normal movement for the turbo actuator rod?

Hi,
Have the dreaded P132B code. The code appeared on start up after sitting in the garage for a few weeks. Took about 5 restarts until it wouldn't appear. Now i can drive about 20 miles before it appears again. After restarting I can get a further 3 miles before it reappears. I've started to just continue driving without stopping to clear and restart as it will cruise along at 55-60 unless there's a hill involved.

I have taken the advice from many other threads on this forum and attempted to lubricate the actuator rod. Used the access under the front left wheel arch with the jeep in off road suspension height.

My question is what is normal movement for the actuator arm? Mine seems quite stiff on the push and nice and free on the pull.

Is this normal ?? I have used copper grease as I read wd40 cannot withstand turbo temp, hence the copper splatters.

Any advice greatly received.

When I did mine - which was a while ago.

Dead free in both directions, 'push' as you call it, I merely had to touch it and it fell away, pull was very light too.

I would try freeing it off with copious WD40, almost like washing it clean, copper grease can get quite stiff when the carrier flashes off, maybe try a graphite spray when the penetrating spray has done it's stuff.

My fault in the end was elsewhere, best of luck

Looks about the right sort of travel, but too stiff - agreed with WINDSWEPTISLANDER, use WD40 first, don't think copper grease will penetrate well enough to free it up. I ended up with a new turbo after all, made such a difference to the Land Rover though.

thx for the help guys.

Quick update - the next day after applying the copper grease the actuator rod could hardly move, so now I know why not to use copper grease!!! I have since used a full tin of WD40 to clean it down and lube it up. So now its freer. I just need to find some high temp lubricant to use on it to stop it seizing once WD40 burns off. @WINDSWEPTISLANDER You mentioned graphite spray - will that work at high temps? and can you give me a name, cant seem to find any on the google.

I'm also using Archoil AR6600 Professional Diesel Turbo Cleaner to try and flush out the main culprit of build of carbon.
