While you are waiting for the new hose, you can always clean the cut and superglue, then tape over with something like duct tape and reinforce with cable ties.
This gave me some wiggle room waiting for the new hose and time to fit it.

I've got the same problem with the black smoke on accelerating would that show an engine system fault on the dashboard

I noticed excessive smoke the other day, and was worried it might have been caused by the EGR blanking, but a quick check on here and split hose it was!!
Super glued (Gorilla gel) which is brilliant stuff, and duct tape while I am wait for the silicone jobby to arrive.
