Off-road wheels/tyres for D4

Hi. Advice welcomed... I have a D4 with 20" wheels. Not my choice it just came like that! I do a lot of driving on-road but also have to wander along farm tracks and unmade roads across moorlands (typically with sharp stones, reasonably steep ascents/descents and some stream crossings). I am also likely to be driving the car in Iceland next year. Not sure the 20" things will last long in this environment. Want something that will cope with this but not drum along too much on the road. Whilst I don't need mudpluggers the choice of rubber for 20" rims is limited (unless someone knows a good combination). Anyone any ideas re 20" rubber?

Seriously looking at getting a second set of rims. Understand from posts that 19" is as small as I can go on D4. Any ideas on sensible 19" rubber - ATR's seem to get a good review and seem to match my on-road/off-road combo. Also any ideas on where I can get a sensibly priced set of 19" rims that will fit (i.e. if they don't it's not my problem).

Cheers

Check Ebay for rims...

Another tire for the 19" rims are the Goodyear Wrangler MTR, in 255/55/19.

Get yourself a set of Cooper Zeon LTZ's.
Ideal for what you're looking for.
Been running mine in 285/50/20 with a 116XL load, for 1.5yrs, best tyre yet!
Great off and on road with no road noise.
btw, this size gives a slightly taller sidewall than a std 19" wheel/ytre combo
Im in N Yorks, where are you - you could check mine out - pm me if of interest.

And, it looks like that rim is very well protected against curb damage!

How are the 20" Coopers working out? No problems with rubbing or otherwise?

Sinton Tyres in Milton Keynes are the importers.
They'll sell you them direct or put them through a local dealer.
Terrry Elsay in Malton is a fairly local one to me.

Ukraine

19" MTRs if serious mud, ATRs otherwise on FFRR 19" 7 spoke rims. Rims cheap as chips off fleabay (seen sets go for £90 to £110). Sorted! Thumbs Up

OK not on a facelifted D3 (some peeps call them a D4) but from that angle not a lot of difference. Whistle
