Cool! Good on you mate I bought a Sankey from Withams and did the same, stripped it to bits, greased, waxoyled, hammerite etc etc then contemplated building something similar with my old man..... but then just thought f**k it and shipped it off to 'Myway' and converted it into a Voyager Bought it as a bare shell then added everything ourselves to customise it. Enjoyed it. There's no way we'd have had chance to make a job as tidy aas yours. Well done mate.

Thats a cool idea, that must mean you don't need to worry about folding the tent away if you want to go off somewhere,
Question; does it work off road???

Yes, I've taken the same sort of trailer through Happy Vally and Strata Florida without any problems whatsoever. They are designed to go anywhere where a military 110 goes.Club Exped trailer

And theres me thinking that all these trailers were just for show, they are some really wicked pictures, cheers guys.
I have a Sankey 3/4 ton trailer that I bought without the tub. I have followed your thread and copied some of your ideas up to where you started to make a frame for the upper chassis. I also added 2 feet to the front of the trailer by bolting on two stainless steel square profile tubes, cut to accomodate the hitch and braking mechanism. The only problem I found was how to extend the hydraulic links to the master cylinder because mine is integral to the brake linkage. Still working on that one.
I managed to source some 2metre x 30cm modular plastic cladding panels at a local factory. These have the advantage of being strong and hollow so I can fill them with insulation, and they only need securing to the trailer base to provide a rigid frame. The panels were being thrown out so I had them for free.
My design is for a trailer cabin like a one-man caravan that I can fold out canopies from to provide additional shelter on the sides of the trailer when parked. I plan to have scissor jacks telescope the main body of the cabin to above head height to allow a walk in space.
I have watched your work on the trailer adaptions and wondered if you have had any damage to internal fixtures while travelling. I have noticed on mine that everything needs tying down and padding because of the firm ride provided by the original sankey suspension. I also lowered the ride height on mine by changing the wheels to 13 inch landrover pattern wheels from indispension. this makes the whole thing more stable and resistant to wiggle at speeds up to 80mph

Sounds great
A new bit of copper brake pipe was fitted into the extension bit with a couple of compression fittings . Was going to change to a complete new flexible pipe , but never got round to it .
No problem with internal fittings ... mine is also very stable ( proberly due to the weight ) and has followed me at speeds of 90 + G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
