Knocked up a prototype electric control panel . Simular design to my one I made for the D3 ..but it works well in there ..so why change . Plus i had most of the bits .
12 way fuse box
230v meter AC
12v meter DC
amp meter DC
thermometer
14 switches ( 13 spoken for )
Not sure if i want lights on the switches ..although they are LED and dont use much power.
This little is 5v ...so any suggestions for dropping 12v to 5v much appriciated .
And these are different brightness's ... ...
Other side of the energy center ...240v
couple of ciggy lighter sockets ...with USB for charging the iphone up
Both as they will look in the cubby
I could have hid the consumer unit and fuse box ..but i like the idea if it all being easy to get to .
and for geekeyness ...if i can get down to our factory ..hopefully i can engrave some switch ledgends
Some work to do yet
I have also got a master switch to turn everything off in one go .
May even have the switches on remote ...for those lazy evenings rounds Rays fire pit G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

If you order this you'll be fine. That meter back light draws 22 milliamps according to the RS site
The holes all line up and you would need a M3 nut & bolt to hold it all together. You could use a well placed M3 nutsert (squash rivet thingy) if you preferred. At the current draw from that meter it's not exatly going to get hot.
Call me if you need it building up. I can do this and post it to you with leads soldered on ready to pop in.

Oh yes, Maplin have a habit of using different part numbers but the 7905 is a well known part. Just checked and they use the following.
Code: Number: Style: Voltage V: Regulation mV:
QL31J TS7805CZ TO220 5V 3
Ask for a mounting kit and heatsink with it and the bloke will know what to sell you.

Could you not use the output from one of the cheap USB sockets? As said, current draw isn't much and USB is 5v.
Other than that, it's looking pretty much as we've come to expect from you
And if you can get those etched tags for the switches.... Ubergeeky! Bodsys Brake Bible
