Flat Battery
Was giving the Disco a spring clean at the weekend, left radio on while doing it. Was rather concerned after 2 hours of scrubbing and vacing that the battery was totally drained.
Only thing on was the radio and interior lights as doors were opened and shut.

Had the same problem with mine, thought I was getting a new battery on warranty but no luck
LRA guy checked it out after it was started, all was fine, alternator doing what it should and battery ok.
I dont take very long to clean it now

If you had the radio and interior lights on for 2 hours presumably you had the key in and ignition on? If so the vehicle was 'awake' so all the systems were active which would drain the battery fairly quickly without the engine runningThe End

now the traxide setup is a charm and a blessing...
Flat battery, disconnect the SC80, powerlead from one + to the other + , start engine......and on your way
People do look funny when you jump under the hood with just one cable and that you are able to start the car like that Disco 3 TDV6 Aut. 7 seat, Zambezi silver, Privacy glass, Rosen A9 DVD, Tow-kit, K&N airfilter, Frontrunner Windcheetah + 4xHella Comet 550, tailgate ladder, 5 breaklights , Performance BB6 17" + Duratracs 256/70R17, RLD Skid-plate, Traxide second battery setup, Lightguards, BAS EGR's blank kit, BAS Silicone hose, Black bonnet decal,

I'll second what Slimer said.
With the car "woken up", it draws about 25 Amps from the battery, or about two to three times the current drain of leaving your headlights on, so you can imagine it wont last all that long.Clive

Ours did the same without the key in the ignition. Dealer said battery was fine and changed the alternator with no difference. I purchased a new battery and never had the problem again!

Re: Flat Battery
When spring cleaning I press and hold the middle button on the Interia light button for 5 seconds to switch them off so when I open doors they don't come on. Also don't leave my key in ignition for simple reason it makes a bonging sound and my radio works without keys in. Also I turn off my sat nav screen in the menu. My radio has been on for hours this way.

The screen and lights don't draw that much compared to the systems that are awake. Without the key in the radio should time-out and should not be on for hours.

Is it possible to extend the time the radio will play with the engine switched off? - ISTR looking in the diagnostics screen some while back and found a time setting for the radio that could be adjusted. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Ive not diagnostically changed anything. When I say I've had it on for hours what I mean is when it goes off every 30 min. I switch it back on, then turn off the sat nav screen again. I only do it because I'm not using them do I don't see the point in them drawing any power and its my way of saving environment . I have had a flat battery before but I've replaced it with the Bosch battery last year. And it's been ok with radio on whilst cleaning, camping or any other time I want the radio on. The standard disco battery was 8 year old and wasn't up to the job no more. Not only leaving anything on it didn't start the car at all.
