Winter tyres - which ones
Hi all,
Im thinking of 4 new boots for the old girl before winter and would appreciate your all round input.
I have standard D3 18's on and do 95% motorway miles, would like to keep the 30+ mpg i am currently doing but not bothered about a little extra road noise.
Any thoughts? and if so the best place to get em?
Cheers

Vredestien Wintracs.......have these on for some months
wet weather performance is v. Good
Also realistic priceBREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Hi
I live for most of the year in Austria and have a second set of wheels fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Ice&Snow 255/60R18, you dont notice any change in noise, MUCH improved feeling in heavy rain and fantastic in ice and snow, I have never needed my chains. The problem with them is that when used in temperatures above 7 degrees they wear fast. I had them on for six months of the winter and they are hardly worn but thats through the winter season.I change back to the normal Wranglers for summer.
I got my set in Austria so not sure on where to buy in th UK but I am sure they are available.

Hi im thinking the same im on standard 18s been trying to get cooper LTZs but only looks like silverline are doing them and there to order from the states which puts me of abit cause if one gets damaged got await forever for a replacement unless you can afford to have 1or2 sitting around so looked for something else and it keeps coming back to AT2s :thumbsup:camskills i found to be cheap

Cheers guys, the AT2's look pretty cool and apparently last 40k odd miles.
Thanks for your ideas.

Looked at winter tyres up here (Grantown on Spey) last big snow but was quoted almost £200 a pop, decided to stick with MTRs, have a set (now 2 sets) already and from experience last winter are great on our slushy refrozen half cleared half salted roads at -15 to -20c. I know our big snow is not as big as most other countries but we enjoy it up here.
Saying that will put MTRs on my D3 at the end of October but will leave SWMBO's on 17" Contis, will be interesting to see how they compare next snows.
