Drivers door, won't lock on fob, but will unlock?

I've managed with this fault for the last couple of years, where the door lock will not lock on the fob, all the other doors will, so I have to manually reach in via the rear passenger door and lock it.

It was all good, until the other week when some toe rag decided to ransack the front of the Disco, nicking the CB radio, dashcam, house keys, and small change from the ashtray, this was obviously because I failed to manually lock it.

I decided to replace the actuator, which has simply resulted in scraped knuckles, new vocabulary, and still won't lock on the key fob....

Please can someone enlighten me as to where the heck I need to look next? Big Cry

Does that door / motor make a noise when you press lock?
Does it try to lock part way ? (Looking from the passenger side)

If yes, you could try disconnecting the inner handle and see if it now locks

I can feel something happening or at least trying to when I lock it with the fob or button on the dash.....

It's just strange that they would both do the same thing???

I can't for the life of me think why?

Not strong enough to pull the mech.

Try oil in the latch inside the door. The moving parts when the motor moves. Or ur is that all new now Embarassed Rolling with laughter

Over time with being operated multiple times the carbon brushes on the motors in the door lock actuators start to wear out and the motors hence become weak and eventually fail.

Taking the door lock actuator apart and replacing the motor, which would probably have a FoMoCo part number on it, is one solution.

I recommend that from time to time that people manually check that they are unable to open any of the doors when the vehicle is meant to be locked.
