WANTED - RADIO/CD UNIT. Part number VUX500490

Hi there looking for a new audio unit for my disco 3. Part number VUX500490

My 2yr old boy thought it would be funny to pour pepsi down the old unit ..... Big Cry

I was wondering if a aftermarket DVD/audio unit would work as I am a auto electrician or would it not configure with the computer on the dash ???

I'm not sure which radio VUX500490 refers to (we don't get the XS/GS over here)......

I know somebody from Madrid who bought the D3 hi-line stereo from someone in the States before realising that he'd also need the amplifier, fibre optics and everything else for it to work (he wanted to simply swap-out the base radio CD-400 in his D3).

As far as I know he is still selling it, but as I said I'd need more details to see if it's the one you want.

BTW...when I say hi-line I mean the 'normal' hi-line one, not the Logic 7....

Again, as Bodsy says, it's worth getting a price from Nick for a direct replacement if you have any doubts Thumbs Up

Looks like you will have to go new

These radio/cd systems are set up at pdi stage with radio code the number for these are no longer kept at the Traceabilty dept at Land Rover so unless you know of a radio from a breaked vehicle which still has the security information with it the radio unit will be no good.

A new one is GULP £540 Big Cry
usual forum discount will be taken from that price

pm me if you need too.

Nick

not sure what you mean by radio code...i have disconnected battery, replaced the ihu with another and at no time is there a code asked for? I told that when you replace a radio you need a software download to put it in sync with the car.

Hi

I have a VUX500320 unit (as standard in my MY06 HSE) bought it as my little darling smashed the LCD screen. I have swapped the screens over (simple solder job) and had Stratstones in Aylesbury refit it (although they said no codes etc were needed, although they did carry out a stolen check).

If you are interested then feel free to PM me.

All the best - Mark

it would be worth asking local dealers IF they have one in stock in their "obsolete codes" I got a radio cd player for my "S" model for £48 inc vat new, they had had it in stock since 2006 and were glad to get that for it!! I will check with them if you want to see if they have the one you're looking for and if they have I will let you know how much etc

CD radio

Hello, my CD unit is broken, model is CD-465 for the HK system.
Bought a CD-565 installed it and ..... error codes from the car and it even wouldn't start.
Why ? So i have a unit CD-565 to sell.
Are there other units that can be used or must it be CD-465 ? Is the year of production from these units
of any importance. Many thanks for any help.

Is this definitely the case?
I picked up 2 radios from breaked vehicles. One works fine 100% with no config necessary, the other doesn't. The radio powers up, tunes in but seems to be having a problem talking MOST as no sound comes out and the satnav screen doesn't turn on. Is this a "coded" radio or is this a dud radio?

There are no "Coded" radios in the typical and traditional sense of having a numeric Code you need to know and enter for the D3 etc.

But TLO is not entirely wrong and was no doubt quoting early information, as there was actually a feature called Security On Most (SOM) which took the form of a SOM list stored in the Instrument pack alongside the CCF.

The idea was that the dealer equipmenent would run a SOM learn when required that would cause some form of electronic identity info for all the Infotainment items on the MOST bus to be stored in the SOM list.

However I never came across a populated SOM list, was always able to add and swap all and any Infotainment stuff on both my own D3 and our Bench rig without problem.

So it seems that this SOM function was never actually implimented.

On that basis i do believe that you have a Dud radio as opposed to a Coded Radio Problem Thumbs Up
