Rear fuel pump belt snapped?
So another day another problem .... Posting this while waiting for recovery.
I was driving the d3 today 05 tdv6. And the car cur out. No noises just stopped. Checked with the gap tool and it mentioned Injector control pressure too low.
Had a poke about and found the following belt snapping at the back of the engine near the top behind a black case.
Can anyone confirm which belt it is.Im hoping it's not catastrophic.

It's not catastrophic just the hpfp belt. New belt and tensioner and it will be fine. The date of manufacture might be on it or it will be stamped into the tensioner when you get it off.
I'm raising the date because if it's been fitted when the front timing belt was done that would be catastrophic if that fails!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Thank god. Typical I just got it back on the road after replacing the crossover pipe!
I'll check for a date on the belt. Thanks for the quick reply guys.
It would be interesting for the record to know its age and the mileage it has covered.

No problem,
I'll update once I get it off finally got it recovered home at 3am after calling the RAC at 17:30.. only needed to go 10 miles!

oh it was a saga that involved one of the recovery trucks having to be recovered at 2am..

Give the RAC hell, they all make excuses.
Similar happened to my son with the AA, managed to get a few hundred pounds from them for our 'inconvenience '.

Oh I will. If nothing else, it will make me feel better about sitting freezing on top of the Pennines for 10 hours.
I've had a quote to replace it for £250+vat do you think it's worth tackling myself or for that price just let the garage do it?

if you are tall, with thin arms and like lying on top of the engine, then do it yourself

If you're experienced in doing this type of maintenance (2hrs) it won't phase you too much. If not, maybe best leave it to someone used to doing them.

So, the rear belt and tensioner is off. I think the milage question is irrelevant. I melted it when using the acetylene to remove a bolt during the crossover pipe repair!
I'm going to order the part today, but the only concern is with the belt already off is there a way to establish which way it needs to go on. The original direction of travel?
It does not really matter with a new belt, but I always fitted them with the text facing me. looking at the rear cover you might struggle to get that back in position, when fitting it back.
