Powertrain whine on specific gear and speed

Hi all.
My 2008 tdv6 disco has a weird whine sound coming from the powertrain in very specific conditions:
Reaching 65-70 km/h (that is about 42mph for the major of the board members, i guess…) while accelerating or cruising AND while in 5th gear (automatic gearbox)
Tried in 4th gear and 6th and no whine.

There is no loss of power Studder or other issues that I can find when cruising and the drivetrain is working well apart of this specific issue.
Gearbox fluid has been changed about a year ago and the truck undergoes oil change at regular intervals

Anyone has any lead on where to start looking?

Thanks

Probably the differential I suspect.

Does it happen under load only? If you lift off does it stop? Also, is it worse when under heavy acceleration?

Hi, was this ever solved? My D3 autobox has the same problem and I think many others have the same problem. I know of people having changed the front diff without fixing this whine. Since it only happens in 5th gear (you can reproduce by using command shift) the problem must be in the autobox?

Hi dutchviking.
Nope, I haven't had it fixed till now.

There can be other cuases such as torque converter (whine at specific combo of torque and gear), driveshafts and many others.
Like many other Disco owners, I've just learned to live with it as long as there's no fault lights on the dash or serious other issues that prevent daily driving it...

Maybe, some day I'll get around to do a minor rebuild of the auto box and hopefully will get around to seriously diagnose it.

LMK if you get lucky and fix it!
Thanks
