Crazy prices at the moment. My insurance due at the end if the month. Current insurer not inviting renual, 250 for last year, quotes for next year £998. Cars a 2005.

As it's not my daily , I've had to lower annual milage and valuation to get the cots anywhere near realistic and viable. Ended up with Churchill £205, but as I say this is based on very limited milage and ridiculously low valuation.

I suppose insurers have make their money from honest people who actually care about having insurance.

I don't know if this is common knowledge but you need to get you're policy booked about 2-4 weeks before it's due as that can make a big difference to quotes. I was told by an insurance company that 2 weeks is the sweet spot, but playing around with quotes on a comparison site I found that as long as it was over 2 weeks, it was cheaper in some cases significantly.

My insurance renewal went up from £541 to £1335 this year, I took a look at alternatives at the beginning of the month and had a quote for £823, I went back to that quote today when I need to renew it and it's now gone up to £1029.

Also interesting how the groups change according to what trim level u have , glad I’ve not got a HSE as that would have been another 4 x groups higher

Very surprised at the renewal invite from AXA today on my Volvo S90... actually gone down £80 from last year (£520 down to £440 and that's with business use !) and below the cheapest quotes I've had from comparisons sites... Although their customer service is pretty poor if I don't claim then I don't have to deal with them...
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Having sold my D4 in January, I've been looking to return to a 2016 model value c 21k. I was quoted £1650 for a KT2 Kingston postcode, full NCB, 8k miles, parked on my drive. By comparison, a brand new £40k Nissan X Trail is £551. Think my Disco days are over.

Update: NFU £2000 for a Disco4! They won't touch a Range Rover unless you are an existing customer.

Seems it’s not just UK insurance costs that are rising
