Question - Mystery bolt after EGR replacement
Hi all,
My first post here so hopefully it's in the right spot!
I'm a new D3 owner as of a few months ago (loving it so far). However, in true LR fashion, I got the EGR fault code... Credit to the garage I got the car from, they didn't try to wiggle out of it, ordered replacements, and replaced both valves under warranty.
On my drive home from having the work done, I noticed the following bolt sitting on my windscreen wiper but the garage was already closed for the weekend
Does anyone know where it comes from, and therefore, where it should be returned to in the engine? I would rather fix it myself if possible...
Many thanks!

Hi,
could be one from the plastic covers/battery box on top of the drivers side inner wing, trying to remember when I changed my EGR ISTR some long bolts hold them in place

Thanks all! Having had a poke around, I honestly can't say I can see anything missing.
The air duct bolt is there. From what I can see, all the EGR mounting bolts are there (and it looks like these are shorter ones anyway?).
I have yet to have a good look around the battery box though...
Any other ideas? There is a possibility that they couldn't find the bolt when they were putting it back together and so replaced it. But that wouldn't be a satisfying ending

Good call, if disconnecting the battery is needed for EGR replacement.

Absolutely definitely an EGR mounting Bolt. There should be 3 altogether and one is nearer the end of the valve than the other two and is hard to see so it's easy to not notice you've missed it off.

As above, only other bolt in that area would be fuel rail mounting bolt that is similar to that.

This is one of the three bolts securing the EGR valve to the engine block.
