Why is my car tax so high |
|
I am paying £630 car tax for my disco 3 2008 2.7 TDV6. Is this normal. It is the highest CO2 band on the rates of vehicle tax.It shows as 270 G/KM on my V5 How high is this going to go? It was £600 last year
and now gone up £30

I think you need to address that one to your MP. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Just had my reminder to renew my road tax at £630 - as if I could forget. Older diesels are gradually being forced off the road unless you have deep pockets. They are a high polluter though so I’m trying to eeeeek
out as much use as I can before having to move to a D5.

Yes, my 2005 Range Rover Supercharged is also half that- unfortunately, at 12mpg it doesn't get used that much at the moment with the current fuel prices!!

2008 D3 HSE Izmir Blue- South African Spec. (Zimbabwe)
2005 FFRR SC V8- Java Black

I remember when i lived in Maastricht it shocked me how much tax my Dutch colleagues paid to buy, own and drive. IIRC it was even worse for the Belgians that worked with us, ISTR they tried to buy their cars of the Dutch market as it was much much cheaper for them. 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Yep... its why I sought a commercial!
Is it 290?!!
my last tax was 270 iirc? Everything is going up! A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

It's a 14 year old Discovery, not a Bugatti Veyron I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Just thinking about this a moment ( because I’m a £630 mug too ) the EU4 discos pollute less than the original ones, but we’re taxed more?
This made sense ten years ago but it really doesn’t now. I shall take it up with my MP!

I'd quite fancy changing to a D4 or Range Rover but refuse to pay over 600 a year just for road tax. Not that I can't afford it, it me right off paying more and more tax!!
