2008 Discovery 3 Instrument Cluster Removal and Replacement

Hi All

My 2008 XS D3 instrument cluster is madly and intermittently faulty Laughing . I have found several companies who will (hopefully) repair it if I send it in, and I have found a few used ones for sale from £80 including delivery.

If I replace mine with a used one, will my car work straightaway, or do I have to do some reprogramming somehow? The video below for a RRS mentions something about the LCM, another module and the cup (??? - inaudible word Smile ) being coded to the speedo.

As to removal and refitting, I have searched here and elsewhere, but I can only find this video for a Range Rover Sport. Is it the same process for my D3 please? Thanks.

The instruments contain the imboliser code. So the car will NOT start if swapped out.

Needs programming.
Also the mileage can only be moved forward and not reversed

Totaltronics are highly recommended and i was going to suggest you take the vehicle to them in Rugby as they do a remove, repair and refit service but on checking there website they have now moved to Dorset.

Thanks. I did find a company near me who remove the old one and refit/reprogram a reconditioned one, but it costs about £650, so I will probably go with sending mine to someone for repair.

For that price you could buy a used cluster and the gap lld needed to program it!
