Parking aid issue

Hi all

I’ve searched trough the forum for a thread that deals with my issue, but I couldn’t find anything - so hear I go…

Parking aid not working coorectly (soletiles a bleep, mostly nothing). Changed the sensors (not original ones), 1 functioned, but with a constant bleep. Gave the IID-tool a shot, 3 were ‘never detected’. Changed the loom, now they’re all detected, but when put in reverse, they give an almost constant bleep. IID-tool live read: 2 at 30-50cm, 2 remain at 2,55m - while nothing is behind the car. IID-tool gives no fault on the parking aid system itself.

Mailed GAP-diagnostics (great service btw) and they’ve told me that there’s or a problem with the power, or with the ground, or with the CAN-wires.

I’m a bit out of options on what I can do myself… if it’s possoble to recalibrate of reset the PDC-ECU, that woult be somerhing I would try ?

If there’s a thread that deals with this item, please let me know - my apologies in that case !

Thanks a lot for your help !

Regards,
Raf

The 2 that read 50cm are faulty.

Try swapping in your old ones if you don’t want to spend money.
Check live values with bumper off

Thanks !

A few adittional remarks…
After demounting the bumper to replace the loom, I’ve connected the new loom with the sensors, and taped them to the iron bar to do a simulation. But they were not detected nor functioning in any way. Only after remounting the bumper because I gave up, the PDC started working again. Is it a possibility that the rear lights need to be connected too before the PDC functions ?

Also: the sensors that give the 2,55 distance, keep giving that distance, even though something is directly in front of it.

R

Humm.

Is that with the engine running or not ?

For the sensors to work the park brake must be off and in reverse

Hi Pete, yes - engine on and in reverse… parking brake was off.

And I double-checked all the connections.

One remark: tha car was on a bridge with both the rear wheels off. We were changing the suspension arms at the same time. But no fault was given by the IID-tool during this action.

If the engine was running, sometimes the alternator can cause false triggers
So try with engine off to see if that’s the issue

Tried that in the first instance… but since everything stayed dead, I’ve started the engine and put it in reverse. Result was twice the same, not working…
