Locking fuel door - not
The fuel door isn’t locking.
I took a look behind the space where the jack is stored and found this cable.
When I pull/push on the end I can hear cogs turning, in the motor I guess.
Can anyone advise where it fits and I guess how it’s locked in place?
Thanks
Just for fun, as even I can figure this one out.

1. Look at the end of it. Does it look broken off? or a nice end?
2. Press the key lock and unlock button. Does the cable move out and in ? (I think I have to press lock twice on mine)
3. Look at the fuel filler neck. Next to the square latch thing should be a hole where that cable end should appear and go into a hole in the fuel door flap.
Push the cable in, from inside the car. Press the lock and unlock key buttons and see if the black thing appears.
If it does not, and the end looked broken in step 1, its possible to fix it on the cheap.
Remove about 1cm of the outer black bicycle like cable and then push the black plastic surround back on.
You will also likely to need to remove the shoulder off the plunger so it goes in as far as it can.
Don't cut too much off the outer cable, otherwise the plunger could get stuck in the filler neck area, and not want to come out!

I was never going to replace the brackets when a wire brush and paint is almost as good.
Shiny new sidestep.
Meanwhile back on the subject of this thread.
The cable was fine, just needed to clean the socket which was full of grease and grit from somewhere. Then the cable is push fit.
No idea how it came lose, but all good now.

The tip off the fuel cap release wire had snapped off at the flap end. I wonder if anyone can suggest where I might be able to get a new wire or the tip.

Hi I actually repaired mine a couple of years ago and did show pictures on this forum but somehow I can't seem to locate them I have uploaded a picture and and drew a square round the white plastic piece that
somehow came dislodged from its fixing.i just pushed it back in its slot put some grease on it and two years later still works fine.
The sad bit it's a nightmare to get at.
You need to remove the rear seat belt ,side covers and all other manner of small pieces which sounds easy but it's not.
And with fuel at a premium price there will be a going back to the old days of fuel robbing, the drilling of tanks and all other shenanigans taking place so watch out for your car.

Thanks, that's a useful description and photo.
My issue was much simpler and at the other end of the cable.
